Talen Charles Birt's courageous battle against osteosarcoma came to an end on August 30th, 2021. Throughout his challenging journey, he demonstrated unwavering faith, strength, and an enduring smile that inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Enduring three years of chemotherapy, undergoing twelve surgeries, and facing the loss of his ability to walk, Talen's spirit remained unbroken.

 

The Talen Charles Birt Foundation was established to honor Talen's memory and perpetuate his legacy. This scholarship is aimed at providing much-needed support to Title I high schools, where daily necessities can often be a struggle, and many students are striving to become first-generation college graduates
